This Thursday @ 10:30am ET
for Everything Co-op, hosted by Vernon Oakes

Everything Co-op continues its spotlight on the 2025 Holiday List selections with guest Ebony Gustave, artist organizer for Art.coop. Art.coop is featured on our Community List of Cooperative Treasures for the holidays in recognition of its collective model and its commitment to empowering and supporting artists.

Ebony Gustave is an artist and a web weaver, community architect, and storyteller. Before producing and hosting Cooperative Journal podcast, she journeyed around the world collecting stories across cultures, experientially learning tools for self-sufficiency, and researching indigenous plants. Throughout that time she felt the power of human and non-human relationships, trust, and what agency feels like. Today, Ebony is an artist organizer with Art.coop and the cultural organizing project Creative Wildfire. Her intention is to collectively cultivate that same sense of awareness and embodiment through solidarity economy storytelling and facilitation.

Art.coop is a collective that exists to grow an arts/culture movement rooted in solidarity by centering artists and cultural workers making systems-change irresistible.

Our host, Vernon Oakes, is a consummate advocate for cooperatives. He is a Past President of the National Association of Housing Cooperatives, and he’s served on several boards and committees to advance the interests of cooperatives. Recently, he served on the Limited Equity Cooperative Task Force, established by Anita Bonds, At-Large Member of the Council of the District of Columbia. Vernon is an MBA graduate of Stanford University, who has used his business acumen to benefit the community, by promoting the added value of the cooperative business model.
